WOODHAUGH GARDENS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I beg to draw the attention of the Dunedin Amenities Society to tb* inroad made for special sports upon this great asset of Dunedin in recent years. This is an ideal spot for elderly people and young children, at present, but beyond that I think ther*should be a forward move to reserve all the rest for growing. propagation of New Zealand shrubs and plants, flowering ones particularly _ (including the north bank of the Leith),■ If Messrs G. and J. Thomson, and G. Silnpson could move in the matter they would see that rata, supplejack,.: mistletoe, ribbonwood, honeysuckle, kowhai, pohutukawa (that blooms life* rata), and Australian gum trees, as in the upper gardens, were profusely, planted and make this a show place for Dunedin. We want an attraction, for visitors to see. As far as,l know none of the other capitals have such' a feature in their town, and no mor* ground should be fenced off for sporting purposes.— I am, etc., v March 4. Natdiub Loveb.
