DOMINION DEFENCE
TRIBUTES TO MR JONES APPLAUSE FROM CABINET COLLEAGUES [Special to the 4 Star.’] WELLINGTON, February 11. Tho Government caucus, which ended to-day, was unexpectedly long, involving complete discussions on exchange control, housing, industrial development. and defence. It concluded, stated the Prime Minister, with a resolution of confidence in Cabinet and thanks for their administrative activity. “The Minister of Defence (Mr Jones) was complimented on all sides,” added Mr Savage. “He described what had been done and what is proposed, and the good spirit which seems to be the order of the day in the defence forces. Of course, he got plenty of advice from members who have seen service, but his explanations as to what is being done frequently drew spontaneous applause. “ Mr Sullivan’s statement on manufacturing covered a remarkable amount of ground, and the progress made is splendid. During the next few days we will be able to inform the public in detail what has been done to promote our industries.”
