The Riverview Observatory seismograph yesterday, about midday, recorded violent earthquake shocks 1,850 miles away, in the vicinity of the,Solomon Islands. ~ CENTRED IN SALAMAUA. SYDNEY, January 31. An earth tremor as severe as that of last April is reported from Salamaua. It thoroughly alarmed Europeans and natives, and rocked buildings, but there was no serious damage.
