TAX-FREE ISSUE TOUCHES PAR SELECTED WOOLLENS MARKED UP Feature of this morning’s investment market was the continued strength ot the loan section, with an advance in the 3$ per cent., March, 1941-43, stock to par, the highest level recorded by this taxfree issue for some considerable time. The new 1949-52 4 per cents, changed hands at £99, while other 4 per cents, lower in the list held recent firm levels. Apart from loans and woollens the market was quiet with few recorded movements. Evidence of stability was not lacking, however, and a few Australian industrials closed with a better inquiry., Banks and insurance scrip was quiet with a paucity of buyers in the former section. Taranaki Oils closed wide, but woollen issues gained further ground, Bond’s Hosiery making Is 6d and Kaiapoi ords. Is. Among other industrials Donaghys finished with £2 Is buyers, while National Electricals were wanted at 13s 9d. Broken Hills, recognised as a market indicator, attracted fractionally firmer buyers, but the market remained comparatively wide. Coles were wanted by ex-dividend buyers at £3 15s, while Sydney Woolworths advanced to a closer market. Commonwealth mining stocks continued to attract a healthy inquiry with slightly better levels recorded. Morgans made 2d, while Barriers, particularly Norths and Souths, closed firmer. Lyo'lls displayed little marked change. SALES REPORTED. —Late Yesterday.— 3 per cent. Stock, March, 1939-43, £99 10s. Bank of New Zealand (D Mortgage), £1 6s.
