HOME SCIENCE “REFRESHER" COURSE
VISITING GRADUATES Home science graduates from all over New Zealand are in Dunedin this week to attend the “ refresher ” courses which are being held daily at the Home Science School. The lecturers, each of whom gives up-to-date information on her own particular subject, include Dr Elizabeth Gregory (head of the nutritions department, Honie Science School), Miss C. H. Mac Gibbon (head of the foods department), assisted by Miss L. White; Miss Bowbyes (head of the clothing department), assisted by Miss E. L. Phillips (of Texas, U.S.A.) and Miss N. Aingo; Miss H. Thomson (head of the applied chemistry department), and Miss D. E. Dolton (London), of the Association of Country Education. “ After-dinner speakers ” during the week include Miss E. L. Phillips (Texas, U.S.A.), Miss R. Simpson (lowa, U.S.A.), Miss Isobel Crowe (recently returned from America) , and Miss D. E. Dolton (London). Those attending the lectures include Miss E. M'Carthy (Gisborne), Miss R. Muir, Miss E. S. Watt, Miss K. Macdonald (Greymouth), Miss E. M. Wilcox, Miss M. I. Lousley, Miss M. K. Ross, Mrs H. Bridgwater (Invercargill), Miss E. A. Simmers (Rotorua), Sirs W. Mulcock, Miss J. Mitchell, Miss M. Renton, Miss B. Keeling (Auckland), Miss A. F. Rockstrow (Napier), Sliss C. Graham, Miss M. Moore, Miss S. Swainson, Mrs Kane, Miss H. Hayes, Miss A. Strong (Christchurch), Miss M. H. R. M'Whirter, Miss K. Simpkin, Miss E. M'Lean (Wellington), Miss Ruby Simpson (lowa, U.S.A.), Miss Isobel Crowe, Miss E. Macomish, Mrs R. Dickinson, Miss A, Aitken, Miss E. Farquharson, Miss J. Irvine (Dunedin), Miss E. Gilchrist (Havelock North), Miss Violet Macmillan (Tauranga), Miss E. A. Nash (Masterton), Miss A. Anderson (Westport), Miss W. Reid (Levin), Miss E. Sell (Ashburton), and Miss W. Shanks (Nelson). During the week-end Professor A. G. Strong (dean of, the Home Science School) and Dr E. Gregory (president of the Dominion Alnmnse Association) entertained the visiting graduates to afternoon tea at the Brown House. The week’s activities will be brought to a close with a social function on Friday evening at the Home Science School.
