MORE RAIN
A correspondent has sent us, as appropriate to the season, the following verses which appeared in the * Star? some 20 years ago:—
It rained and rained and rained and rained; The average was well maintained; And when our lawns were simply; bogs, / It started raining cats and dogs. After a drought of half an hour, There came a most refreshing shower; And then, most curious thing of all, A gentle rain began to fall. Next day was pretty fairly dry, Save for a deluge from the sfey ■ That wetted people to the skin, And after that the rain set in. Folks wondered what they next would get. They got, in fact, a lot o£ wet. But soon we’ll see a change again; For we shall have a drop of rain.
