Mr 11. L. Young left for the nortK this morning on the first stage of a visit to Australia. Mr T. O’Shea left for Wellington this morning. Mr G. H. ■ At last night’s meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, the president (Mr C M. Clark) made a presentation ofl a fountain pen and pencil to Mr J. W. Holley, who is leaving shortlv on transfer to Wellington. Mr Clark referred to Mr Holley’s long association with the centre, and to his outstanding work for the sport in general, both as a member of committees of the centre and as an official for track and field meetings and harrier fixtures. Members of the centre were glad to learn of his promotion, but regretted his- departure.

Sir J. Denford, secretary-treasurer of the Grey Power Board, has been appointed accountant to the municipal electricity department in Christchurch. He was selected from 60 applicants. Mr Denford, who is 37 years of age, has been secretary of the Grev Power Board for the last 14 months'.-' He was secretary of the Otago Power Board for seven years and a-haif, and secretary-treasurer to the Waitaki Power Board fop four years and a-half.-He holds the degree of' bachelor of commerce.
