CONFLICT AMONG NAZIS

RECKONING NOT FAR DISTANT EXTREMISTS VERSUS MODERATES HITLER DELIBERATELY MISLED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 20. (Received December 21, at 10.30 a.m.) The Associated Press says it is evident that the conflict between the extremists and moderates among the Nazis is becoming increasingly acute, and it is thought that a reckoning is not far distant. According to reports, the world-wide indignation at the pogrom has resulted in a strong movement by powerful interests for the removal of the worst fanatics. Criticism has certainly been more open than at any time previously. Influential circles in London are receiving numerous letters from Germany expressing extraordinarily bold condemnation, and rumours of an impending purge are becoming increasingly strong. It is stated that the position of Dr Goebbels, Herr Himmler, and Herr von Ribbentrop is threatened. Herr Hitler is not aware of the extent to which Dr Goebbels and his confederates carried the Jewish measures. It is also stated that the Fuhrer was deliberately misled. He now spends most of his time in the seclusion of Berchtesgaden.
