PARKING REGULATIONS

TO BE EFFECTIVE ON FEBRUARY 1 DECISION OF COUNCIL The subject of the new parking regulations, yet to be enforced was again a matter for discussion at the City Council meeting last evening. In answer to a question, the town clerk (Mr R. A. Johnston) said he understood that before the regulations could be promulgated a great number of sitms would have to be erected in different parts of the city. The cost would be somewhere in the vicinity of £3 The mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) asked councillors would it not be possible to defer bringing down the regulations until after the holidays. Their enforcement at this time would occasion confusion, he thought. After further discussion, it was moved bv Cr Shepherd that the regulations coinc into force on February 1 next. The motion was carried. It was also decided to notify the public to this effect by advertisement, as there seemed to be some confusion on the subject, it was stated.
