SCOT GIRLS TRUE TO PRINCIPLES
Sales in the big herring markets of Yarmouth and' Lowestoft were halted recently by a strike of 2,400 Sabbath* keeping Scottish, girls in the fish packing plants. ’The girls who flock to these English ports each year to salt and pack fish during the herring season, quit work in protest against Sunday fishing by English boats. They contended . that.. Sunday catches gave the English an advantage over Scottish fishermen, t who do not fish on the Sabbath.
