TOWN HALL DANCE
M PALAIS GLIDE " The management of the Town Hall Dance will introduce to-night another much-discussed dance, the Palais Glide Soon after the Lambeth Waflk made its debut in London another dance came along that was much more popular with fashionable hostesses than the walk. It was called the Palais Glide, and it had a great deal more dignity—and was much less rough on the furniture—than the Lambeth Walk. The Palais Glide was assured of popularity when the Duke and Duchess of Kent did it one night at the ultra-smart Quaglino’s haunt of royalty and London’t aristocracy. And it has the advantage of the Lambeth Walk that it can be done to many tunes, including ‘ John Brown’s Body ’ and ‘John Peel.’ In addition, one man can dance with two or even three partners. Tonight from 7 to 8 Miss Betty Anderson and Mr Jack Robinson will conduct a special tuition session, which will give patrons a chance to learn the new dance free;: and at 10.45. with Miss K. Eckhoff, Mr C. Garland will give a special demonstration. The music will be supplied by Mr Alex. Swann’s band of seven players, assisted by the radio vocalist, Mr James MacFarlane.
