AURORA AUSTRALIS PHOTOGRAPHED.—The rare feat of photographing this spectacular phenomenon was achieved by Mr M. Geddes with a special camera loaned by a Russian observatory. The display has all the appearance of a great fire, and here it is depicted over Invercargill on April 23. Mr Geddes is an authority on astronomy, and he was a member of the expedition last year to observe the eclipse of the sun at Canton Island. This photograph was sent in the form of seasonal greetings to a member of the Otago branch of the Astronomical Society.
