DOMINION TOURNAMENT GAMES. The following pair of games was played in the tournament at Invercargill last Easter between G A. Brown, Christchurch, present champion, and G. Duncan, of Dunedin. Tho notes are by Mr Brown:— —Game 725.

(d) Better than 9-13 OBITUARY Draughts players all over the world wib regret the untimely death of Sam Levy, the world’s draughts champion. The cause of death was a relapse after an operation for appendicitis. Sam Levy was one of the cleverest players of his day, and but for his sudden death in the early twenties he would have unquestionably made a great name for himself. The world of draughts is poorer for his passing. COHEN’S CLAIM TO THE WORLD TITLE. The death of Sam Levy has caused the world’s draughts title to become vacant. As the last contender, Mr Samuel Cohen, desires to announce his claim to be considered. He is willing to meet George O’Connor, of Glasgow, ex-champion of Scotland, in a match of 40 games for the title.
