’ POLICE PROMOTIONS. Thu following promotions and transfers are announced: —Sergeant Henderson, Tauranga. to he (senior sergeant, succeeding the late Senior-sergeant Finch at AYlu.ngarei; Detective Sergeant Holmes, Dunedin, to senior detective, and remaining in charge of the detective branch there; Sergeant Edwards, Wellington south, to take charge at Tauranga; Seniorsergeant Quale, of Greymouth, transferred to Mount Cook station, AYellington; Detective Sergeant Biekerdike, Christchurch, to be senior sergeant in the uniform branch, succeeding Senior-sergeant Quale at Greymouth; Sergeant J. Paine, in charge of the training school at Wellington, promoted to be senior sergeant.—Press Association. CRICKET. In the Wellington match Town v. Country, Town, whose first innings realised 152 to Country’s 101, made only 117 second innings (On'gley again top scorer with 57). “ STORK DERBY ” MOTHER. TORONTO, November 30.—Mrs Anna Kenny, the- “ Stork Derby ” mother and winner of the 12,500d0l consolation prize, has been committed to a mental hospital following her arrest after her Kenny residence had been set on fire four times. STOCK EXCHANGE. Sales reported this afternoon: 4 per cent. Stock, 194 G-49, £9B os; Dominion Fertiliser, £1 3s sd; Taranaki Oil, 9s 3d. The market for Taranukis closed at buyers 10s. BUILDING PERMITS. Eighty-nine building permits were issued at Dunedin- during November, totalling £100,431. The permits include 22 for Government houses, a new Assembly Hall for the King’s High School (£4.000), and extensions to Cadbury, Fry, Hudson Ltd. (£11.000).
