HOLY NAME BAZAAR
Scenes of merriment and bright displays will be witnessed in Victoria Hall, Crawford street, during, the coming week on the occasion of the much-talked-of Holy Name bazaar. The object of the week’s entertainment is to raise funds to reduce the parish debt. His Lordship flight Reverend James Whyte, D.D., will perform the opening ceremony on Saturday evening, November 26, at 8, and there will be in attendance the Waverley Boys’ Band, under the conductorship of Mr D. Whelan. An energetic committee, under the direction of Rev. Father Quinn, together with the stall-holders and a large number of assistants, have left nothing undone to ensure success and provide patrons with a full measure of sparkling attractions. The pupils of the Holy Name, St. Dominic’s, and St. Philomena’s will give specially prepared items, commencing each evening at about 8, and other artistic friends will assist. The various stalls will be well stocked with serviceable articles to meet all requirements, and a special feature will be the decorations of the stalls, enhanced by coloured lights, which will lend glamour to the scene.
The games parlour will be set in Fullers’ hull, adjoining the Victoria Hall, and it is there that the fun will attain the highest point. As an interlude the refreshment room will satisfy the most fastidious. Admission to the hall is free, and with such a number’of attractions the public should be fully recompensed for patronage.
