Reduction of Copper Quota
The uncertain state of New Zealand's finances has called for comment by the London ' Times,' which analyses the reason for the rediscount rate. The most significant feature of this statement from such an authoritative quarter is that the consequences of the rise are difficult as yet to discover, though it is almost certain that an effect on the rate of the Dominion's treasury bills will be the most immediate sequel. As has been pointed out already in the past few weeks there has been a flow of funds from England to America, this movement being directly attributable to nervousness by investors over the international situation. Consequently, the London ' markets are stagnant. One feature, however, is the announcement that the price of copper has risen.
