M.G.M. TRIUMPH

NELSON EDDY'S ‘ ROSALIE' The name Nelson Eddy, when associated with any picture, immediately stamps the film as one of the very highest standard, and ‘ Rosalie,’ the latest Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musical, starring the famous singer, is a worthy successor to those great Nelson Eddy triumphs—‘ Naughty Marietta,’ ‘ Rose Marie,’ and ‘ Maytime ’ —in which he was associated witli Jeanette Macdonald, and in which there is such a wealth of happy memories. In ‘ Rosalie,’ which will come to the Regent to-morrow, Nelson Eddy has for his starring partner Eleanor Powell, whose claim to rank among the greatest dancers of the picture world is undeniable. It is a completely successful combination, resulting in the discovery of a new delightful romantic team.

Ilona Massey, a beautiful newcomer to Hollywood from Europe, makes her American debut in the film, and her performance speaks well for her future popularity. She proves herself a delightful comedienne, and also sings admirably. The comedy in the film is in the capable hands of Frank Morgan and Edna May Oliver, assisted by Billy Gilbert and Ray Bolger. Nothing is missed to make this a picture to remember. Eye-filling with enormous sets and beautiful ballet numbers,- gay with charming Cole Porter tunes beautifully sung by Nelson Eddy, and quickened to top speed by the magic tap dancing feet of Eleanor Powell, ‘ Rosalie ’ is a musical of extraordinary entertainment power.
