SPECTACULAR FOURFOLD ATTRACTION An entertaining mixture of spectacle, romance, comedy, and music is the palatable fourfold attraction in ‘ Breaking the Ice,’ the Bobby Breen starring picture which will come to the ’ State to-morrow. The spectacle is provided by six-year-old Irene Dare, the world’s youngest figure skater, the romance by Dolores Costello, the comedy by Charlie Ruggles, and the music by Bobby Breen, who sings five hit numbers, three of them composed by Frank Churchill, who wrote the songs for ‘ Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.’ ' Sacrifice, the love of a widowed' mother, for whom, he runs from home in order to earn money, and exciting adventure compose the mixture of entertainment values to be seen in ‘ Breaking the Ice.’ In this most ambitious picture in the career of the 11-year-old singing star of radio and screen the youthful Bobby plays an adventurous lad—a fighter who elbows his way into tight spots and emerges singing and triumphant. The plot concerns Bobby’s effort to raise sufficient money with which to send his widowed mother to the roan she wants to marry. In addition, the film features as an attraction six-year-old Irene Dare, sensational baby ice skater, in an ice fantasy. _ ‘ Breaking the Ice ’ has an exceptionally strong supporting cast, headed by Charlie Ruggles in the role of an unscrupulous antique dealer, and Dolores Costello as Bobby’s mother, Robert Barrat, Dorothy Peterson, Billy Gilbert, and Charlie Murray. ‘ Breaking the Ice ’ was produced by Sol Lesser and is released by RKO Radio.
