CAVERSHAM SCHOOL

The monthly meeting of the Caversham School Committee was held on Monday evening. Mr W. Inglis presiding. The head master, Mr W. G. Burns, reported that the school, attendance hud been affected by sickness, especially in the infant department. Attendance particulars were as follows :—Main school roll 478, average 403. Infant department roll 145, average 78. The treasurer reported on the annual choir concert. The receipts to date totalled £56, with bxpenses £l6, these returns showing an improvement on previous years. Arrangements for the annual school picnic were completed. Parents’ Day was announced for December 3, and the annual school concert for December 13. Tlio charge mistress of the “ Sara Cohen ” Open-air School reported low attendances owing to sickness. Advice ■ was received from the Education Board that a grant had been passed by the Public Works Department for the concreting of the playing area at the infant school, College street.
