SCOUT NOTES
HEAD-QUARTERS. All packs and troops entering for the Passmore efficiency prize must hand in their registers to headquarters on or before November 30. The results of the second star examination are as follows:—K. Brass, iK. Duncan (Roslyn), ,J. Murray. J Brawett, L. Stevens, and G. Roberts (St. Clair). R. Wing (Mornington). G. Waugh (N.E.V.), C. Lomas (North Dunedin). The Scout ambulance competition 'resulted as follows:-—Christian Brothers 1, Anderson’s Bay 2, and Roslyn 3. Members of the Australian jamboree contingent are requested to attend the practices held at headquarters every Tuesday at 5-15. GROUP REPORTS. Roslyn Leopard Pack.—The pack has had two busy weeks. First came the group hobby show in which the pack did very good work. The following gained prizes Second D. Edmiston for most points, with W. Simenaeur a close second, Sixer G. Strang for scones and D. Rathboiie for sweets. On Saturday the pack held a flower show, the various classes being judged by Mr P. Stewart. The large number of entries and the artistic manner in which the flowers were set up show that boys can do just as well as their sisters .who really excel in this direction. Prizes were awarded as follows:-—-Jar of mixed flowers: K. Lethaby 1, D. Edmiston 2, H. Eairmtiid 3. Decorated casket: 1). Rathbone 1, A. Strang 2, D. Edmiston 3. Decorated basket (paper): J. Jago 1. Decorated doll’s pram for sisters; Mona Morrison 1, Isobel Jago 2, Carol Anderson and Marjorie Phillip (equal) 3. After the exhibits had been inspected a short en, tertainment was given, W. Simenaeur and G. Anderson supplying outstanding items. This was followed by afternoon tea. This pack has now ended its activities for this year. Ravensbourne. Twenty-four boys answered the roll call on Friday night. Scout work was soon put in hand. More signalling was carried out. Two more tenderfoot badges wore presented, while the Panthers were again the successful patrol in the evening’s events. North Dunedin. Twenty boys paraded last week. After roll call badge work was carried on, followed by a fast game of hand Soccer. D.C.M. E. Payton was a welcome visitor. Scout H Legge gained his tenderfoot* badge. The dismissal was preceded by the third Scout law. Knox.—On Friday last the troop met to bid farewell to Scouter Ashman. Committee members. Rovers, and ex-Scouts all turned up to give him a rousing send-off. At the close of the evening a sash was presented. It is with great regret that the troop bids an rovoir to its popular Scouter. Kensington.—Daybreak last -Thursday evening signified the opening of a games evening. The following were played:—Soccer, blow-ball, poison block, circular skipping, slipper tag, and into the pond. A camp fire at which E. Eclsall was presented with his cyclist badge concluded the evening. Opoho.-—There was a fair attendance last meeting night, and Scout work was soon put under way. Various signalling practice competitions were held. A practice for the Scout race was also run off. Arrangements are now in hand for the Christmas party. The troop is indebted to the assistance rendered it by the Ocean Beach Rovers and Cubmaster Driver.
