—Ministerial.— The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry) arrived by cac from the north yesterday afternoon, and is staying at Wain’s Hotel. He is accompanied by Mrs Parry, and by Mr A. G. Harper, Government Town Planning Officer, and Mr C. (R. Bach, Government Physical Welfare Officer. The Minister addressed a meeting of sports bodies last night on the physical fitness campaign, and the Ministerial party subsequently attended the Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club’s carnival at the Municipal Baths.. To-day the Minister was engaged in receiving private deputations, and this afternoon he attended the Forbury Park trots. Ho leaves by car to-morrow- afternoon for Invercargill. Mr S. D. Smith left this morning for Wellington. Mr Jas. Begg left this mornipg for Wellington. Mr D. M. Spedding left this morning lor Wellington to attend a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union. The members of the War Pension* Roard—Mr T. E. Y. Seddon (chairman), J. D. Harper, and Coil.- A. R. S. Carbery—left this morning for Wellington after sitting in Dunedin and Invercargill. The appointment of a former Auckland student, Mr f L, W. ,A. Crawley, at 'present at Geelong, Victoria, as. lecturer in classics at the Auckland University College is announced. Thera were 16 applicants for the lectureship.: The resignation of Captain D. R. Probert from its service was received by the Auckland Harbour Board at its meeting on Tuesday. Captain Probert has been master of the tug Te Awhina. Ihe board ratified _ a resolution passed at a previous meeting in committee accepting Die resignation and granting Captain Probert six months’ leave' of absence on full pay. ..Air A. accountant for the Bank of New Zealand' at AndkJand, is to retire on superannuation as trom the end of this month. He will be succeeded' by Mr J. W. Cawley, at present assistant accountant. Mr Grierson commenced his banking career with the ioe" k of -Australasia at Dunedin in 1890. • 1 •
