SKEI il'ON —PA TKIISO N. All Saints’ Church was prettily decorated with orange, blossom for the wedding of Hiss Helen Paterson to Mr George Skelton, which took place last evening, the Veil. Archdeacon Whitehead officiating, with Mr A. W. Lilly at the organ. Preceded by the choir boys, the bride made a beautiful picture as she walked down the aisle on her father’s arm. Her mode] gown was of heavy ivory satin swathed from shoulder to hip, the shirred skirt falling into a graceful train; the sleeves also were shirred at the shoulder line and caught into a tight wristband. The veil was most unusually arranged, falling from three roses which formed a topknot. She carried in her arm a
sheaf of cream roses. She was attended by her younger sister, Enid, wearing a dusky pink sheer fashioned on Empire Jim'S and finished with a wide belt of mulberry velvet, her bouquet shading from dusky pink to deep wine roses. A small floral cap completed this attractive toilette. A reception was hold later at the Strand Salon. The bride’s mother wore a becoming gown of deep violet satin, with a widebrimmed hat in velvet to tone, and carried a bouquet of gold roses. Mrs Skelton, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy frock with hat to match, and carried pale pink roses. After the reception the young couple loft by ear for the north, the bride wearhE a frock of white cloche with a navv blue wool lace redingote, a chic blue and white straw hat, with shoes and accessories of navy blue. BROUGHTON —BUTLER. St. Mark’s Church, Balclutha, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday last, when Verna, eldest daughter of Air and Airs A. Butler, Balclutha, was married to Charles, youngest son of Mr and the late Mrs G. Broughton, of Greymonth. The church had been prettily decorated with white roses and pink and blue lupins and sweet peas, ami made a pretty setting for the ceremony, which was performed by the vicar, the Rev. Air Boyd-Bell, Aliss Kirby presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a model frock of white satin, with Elizabethan collar and bodice rucked to the waist, with lace inset on the train. Her veil, given by an aunt, was atlixect to tho head with a coronet of tulle petals and tiny flowers, and she carried a sheaf of white roses and lily of the valley. She was attended by her sister FJlva as bridesmaid, attired in a frock of blue organdie, embossed with bine and pink hairbells. She wore a headband of pink and blue and carried a houuuet of pink loses, sweet peas, and maidenhair fern. The bride’s younger sister Patricia made a dainty flower girl, dressed in a frock of blue organdie, made in Victorian style. Her headband was of pink and bine flowers andxshe carried a posy of roses, sweet ipeas, and lily of the valley. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr E. Mulligan (Invercargill). The reception was held in the Alasonie Hall, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a frodk of black floral crepe de chine, with spray of cream roses, a Mack coat of embossed taffeta, and black Breton sailor hat with autumn flowers, and the bridegroom’s aunt. Airs D. IRoss, of Greymonth, who wore a navy pin-stripe costume and navy leghorn hat. Both carried posies en suite. The happy couple left later for Nelson by car. the bride wearing a navy blue floral
chiffon frock, coat of heavy navy georgette, navy straw toque, with veil, and carrying a fur stole, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs Broughton will reside in Oamaru.
