The Federal Cabinet to-day decided to give Parliament an opportunity early next year to discuss sweeping amendments to the Commonwealth Constitution, affording adequate control over national matters. REFERENDUM LIKELY t 1 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DETERMINED. SYDNEY, November 23. (Received November 23, at 11 a.m.) Mr Lyons, in a statement, indicated, that a referendum at which the people would be asked to give the Commonwealth much wider powers in many directions, was likely to be held next year. He said that the Commonwealth was determined to press forward promptly with a non-party appeal for additional powers.
