AMERICA’S DEFENCE PROGRAMME TWELVE THOUSAND PLANES IN TWO YEARS Press Association—By Telegraph—Coypright NEW YORK, November 22. The ‘ Herald-Tribune’s ’ Washington correspondent ■ states that the Administration is so anxious to make a display of American military strength that it has virtually decided to compress the air expansion programme into two years. The objective is 9,000 planes for the army and 3,000 for the navy, Mr Henry Morgenthan, Secretary of the Treasury, indicated that a sizeable plan was under consideration by the announcement that he was drafting tax proposals which awaited. President Roosevelt’s final decision. It is anticipated that the Defence Budget in January will exceed 8,000,000,000d01.
