D. Gallinicos, of Ithaca, under whoso ownership she lias been tramping since 1933, to an Italian company. The prico was about £27,200, which is more than three times as much as she changed hands for five years ago, when there was little demand for second-hand tonnage. The War Mallow was built as a standard steamer in 1918, by Bopners, of Stockton-on-Tccs, for tho Shipping Controller. She was of tho A type singledecked standard ships, with a gross tonnage of 5,263, a dead-weight capacity of 8,200 tons, and a speed of 11| knots, with a triple expansion engine.’ When she was completed, soon after tho end of the war, tho Shipping Controller placed her under tho management of Stamp, Mann, and Company. Lato in 1919 she was sold to the Joseph Constantino Steamship Line, of Middlesbrough, who renamed her the ipriarwood, in line with the rest of their fleet. About a year later she was sold to Woods, Taylor, and Brown, of London, for about £162,500, which included a three months’ charter. Her new owners renamed her the Heath field. In 1930 she was laid up in the Tyne, where she remainecl t for three years during the world-wide shipping slump. In 1933 she was sold to A. t).
