TO CORRESPONDENTS.

“ M,” (Dunedin).—S. D. Parnell resided in Wellington for many years, and died there in 1890 at the age of 85. He was a builder and contractor by occupation. Ho left London in 1839 for New Zealand, arriving at Petone, then chosen as the site of the capital of New Zealand, on February 7, 1840. In England he had devoted much lime to social subjects, and was definitely of the opinion that eight hours’ labour was a fair measure of work for any one day. “ Stick to Your Own Business.”—Not particularly a public matter.
