M'GLASHAN COLLEGE

SPORTS MEETING CONCLUDED R. ELVIDGE WINS SENIOR GUP _j By a clear margin of points R. Elvidge won the Senior Cup at the annual sports meeting of John M'Glashan College, continued yesterday afternoon at the University Oval. A smaller margin of points separated A. Smith, the winner, from the runner-up in the Junior Cup. Elvidge is a versatile athlete, and in each of the throe events he won he showed mature judgment, and also general form that will aid his performances at the secondary schools sports meeting in a fortnight. C. D. Baker was the runner-up to Klvidge, and he broke the only record —the high jump—decided before the meeting. £. W. M'Douall, the third-placed competitor in the cup, ran well in the longdistance events, but did not reproduce the same form in the shorter distances. A persistent wind troubled all the competitors. Had conditions been better it is likely, judging from the times returned, that more than one record would have been broken. '■'Results:— SENIOR CUP. 100 YARDS. Record: 10 3-ssec—J. M. Sidey. (1928.)
