NEW PLANE ORDERED
OTAGO AERO CLUB’S FLEET The fleet of the Otago Aero Club is to be increased by; the purchase bf ft Tiger Moth machine. This is being carried out through the scheme under which the loan of money can be obtained from the Government free of interest for the purpose of purchasing training aeroplanes. The registration letters ZK-AHA have been allotted for this machine, but the club has not yet been advised when delivery may be expected. The Tiger Moth is a two-seater machine powered with a 130 h.p. Gipsy Moth engine, and has a maximum spfeed of 104 miles an hour. Its ceilifig is 13,200 ft, and the machine has a range of 285 miles. Suitable for both seaplane and landplane training this type is a good allround one. In addition to intermediate, advanced, and aerobatic instruction, it can be used for training and practice in aerial combat, bombing, reconnaissance, and observation duties. Tho Queen Bee, which is extensively used for the training of anti-aircraft gunners, is a modification of this machine.
