MID-CANTERBURY SAFE FOR NATIONAL LEAD INCREASED [Pee United Press Association.] ASHBURTON, Oct. 26. With one absentee vote to be dealt with, the position in regard to the Mid-Canterbury seat is as follows: A. N. Grigg (National) .. 5504 H. E. Herring (Labour) •. 5429 Majority for Grigg .. 75 Mr Herring was the previous member. Additional votes were cast as follows: Declaration—Grigg 2, Herring 4, Absentee—Grigg 257, Herring 263.
