YACHT CLUB DISPUTE

MEMBERS' STATUS QUESTIONED NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICES Lengthy discussion took place last night at the annual meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club on .the subject of the status of some of the nominees for various offices in the club. The question arose from a motion seeking to declare that the nominations were out of order as several unfinancial members had been nominated and therefore the rules of the dub had been violated. Discussion lasted about an hour, and was taken in committee. Several candidates withdrew their nominations during the debate, and thus there were left unfilled various committee positions, while the vicecommodore vacancy is to be filled at a subsequent meeting of the executive. The. acting-commodore (Mr A. A. Gillespie) presided, there being a good attendance of members. ANNUAL RETORT. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted after a short discussion on the finances of the club. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. When the chairman read out the list of nominations for office-bearers Mr E. Dawson moved that the nominations be ruled out of order. There was a lengthy discussion in committee, and it was finally decided to continue with the election of those officers who had not withdrawn their nominations. The election resulted as follows: Commodore, Mr G. S. Geddes; rcarcoramodore. Mr H. Latimer; secretary, Mr S. Kenna; treasurer. Mr A. Giles; delegates to the Otago Association— Messrs A. Cameron and C. Nees; auditor, Mr B. R. N ees; committee— Messrs I). S- Simpson. A. A. Gillespie, D. Neason A Giles, J, Ross, R. (Ross, and A, Camerou.

GENERAL. Mr Ernest Davis was elected a life member of the club. It was decided that the presentation of prizes should take place at a social evening to be arraniged by the committee.
