SEVEN NEW RECORDS SENIOR CUP TO L. K; WHITE C. R. CHILD WINS JUNIOR TROPHY No less than seven school records were broken at the annual sports ot the Kind’s High School, held yesterday afternoon, while there was a new claimant for the seniqr cup —L. -&-• White, who, with a small margin ot points to spare, won the trophy from the present holder. D. R. Sapsford. The junior cup went to C. R- Child, who had a three-point lead trom the next competitor. The weather was ideal tor the fixture. and there was a fair attendance of parents and friends. The first, 11 record was put up in the broad PJ’PP senior cup event, in which L. K. White cleared 19ft HJin. or 2ft longer than the existing record. By throwing the cricket ball 96yds J. Valentine broke the second record: the winner of the junior cup also distinguished himself by equalling the 100yds record. D. R. Sapsford’s fastest time for' the 100yds senior was reduced by l-ssec by the scratch runner, J. Brown, in the first heat, but' Sapsford - retrieved ms superior position in the senior cup event over the same distance by clipping a further ]-ssec from the "time. The 1937 time for the 220yds senior cup race was also lowered, 11. Clark taking 4-ssec less to reach the tape. The sfcratch competitor, J.. Brown, knocked down the time of the 220yds senior cun event by his performance in the semi-finals, in which he was clocked at 25 3-ssec, while the most noteworthy achievement came next, when H.. Tomkins shortened the 880yds junior record bv no less, than 25 2-ssec. There not having been any previous record for the 3ft'hurdles, 11. Wood’s, (one down) time of 17 4-oseo was written as the school record.
