DOG POISONING.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I have just read a paragraph in to-night’s ‘ Star’ about dog poisoning. While I hold absolutely no brief for this method of extermination, yet in my opinion the time lias come when some drastic measures against the dbg nuisance in this district need to be taken.- For sonic time past we have been annoyed by dogs roaming round, singly and in packs, seemingly unchecked by the owners, and these dogs have done considerable damage. I am one of three within a small radius who have had fowls destroyed, and last week, on investigating several disturbances among seed beds and growing vegetables, I unearthed no fewer than five nice ripe bones. But the worst-nuis-ance of all is the disturbance caused by these pests. Night after night we are wakened and kept awake by their continued barking and whining, and I would bo pleased to know what steps to take to stop this nuisance. Mine is no isolated complaint, as it is endorsed by all in the neighbourhood. No doubt the owners of the dogs concerned are wroth at their destruction, but no more so than myself as I viewed the damage caused by these pests.— I am, etc., Rav Quakey. October 21,
