CAPE TOWN, October 19. (Received October 20, at 10.30 a.m.) Mr L. Taljaard, a South-west African member of Parliament and leader of the movement against the return of the territory, to Germany, in an interview emphasised the nervousness due to the Nazis’ underground tactics. He pointed out that Nazi flags disappeared at Windhoek at the height of the crisis, but reappeared after the Munich conference. “It is now openly said,” he remarked, “that Germany will rule South-West Africa by Christmas. Non-Nazis are trimming their sails to meet the situation. Sixty per cent, of the population favour the present constitution. Many of the remainder before the Munich conference opposed return to Germany.”
