NEW FRONT-OF-HOUSE AWARD (.Per United Press Association.J WELLINGTON, October 19. Following a partial agreement reached in Conciliation Council on Tuesday, final details of the new award for front of the. house theatre workers covering .the Northern, Taranaki, Wellington, Marlborough, and Canterbury industrial ' districts, were settled when the parties to the dispute came to a complete agreement to-day. The award will terminate on March 31, 1939 ; to enable the workers to make application for a Dominion award. The clauses relating to rates of wages in the new agreement become effective on the first pay day after October 19, 1938. Wages for performance workers were agreed upon as follows :—ln towns of more than 7,500 of population, 5s 6d a performance; in other towns, 5s a performance; in vaudeville, concert, dramatic, and operatic entertainments,, 6s a performance. Double rates of wages will be paid to workers engaged after midnight and before 6 a.m. An annual holiday of 12 continuous working days will be granted to caretakers. Other employees will be given a holiday of nine continuous working days. It was agreed to extend the award in so far as boxing and wrestling associations were concerned until a new award is made covering sports bodies.
