TRENCHES IN LONDON PARKS.—Air raid precautions were immediately put in hand when the possibility of hostilities became acute. Men from the Office of Works began digging 7ft trenches, which were by way of an experiment preparatory to running a ring of “ staggered ” trenches close to the roadways.
