OTAGO ANGLING

ASSOCIATION'S COMPETITIONS The committee of the Otago Anglers’ Association announces a series of competitions for the present season. This preliminary list will be followed by the usual syllabus, which is being issued in a new form. The usual conditions will be in force during all competitions, and anv alterations in the competitions due to* unforseen circumstances will be broadcast. The following is the series : Shag River, Saturday October 29: Any legal bait. Hours from 3 p.m. to midnight. Weigh-iirat 0.30 a.m. at the railway station. The first prize will be a trophy valued at 20s, presented by the Barth Electric Ltd., and the second a fly box of flies presented by Mr George Howes. Entry fee is Is.

Boys’ Competition, Water of Leith. November 5: Any legal bait. Entry fee Hours from 1.45 p.m. to 6 p.m Weigh-in at the George Street Bridge at 6.45. The prizes, presented by Messrs J. J. Haggie, A. L. Mitchell, and H. Horden, are valued at 10s fid and 5s (2). Waipahi River, Saturday, November s.—Bare fly. Hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open to all holders of Otago licenses. Entry fee 2s. Water ballotted for The competition will be foi two gold medals presented by the Otago Acclimatisation Society, Entries close on November 1. Tomahawk Lagoon Saturday, November 12.—Any legal bait. Hours from 3 p.m. to midnight. Weigh-in outside Monson’s at 0.30 a.m. Fishing in both lagoons allowed, but boats barred. The first prize will be the Spears Memorial Cup and miniature, and the second presented by Mr J. Jowsey, will be valued at 10s fid. Interclub Competition.—Teams ol eight, the four largest baskets to count This will be held between members of the Otago and Oamaru Clubs on the Shag River on November 19. Hours from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Nominations will be received until November 5. Mr S. Barnes will be the selector. Details of other competitions and the annual outing will bo announced later-.
