OBITUARY
MS EWEH CAMERON The death occurred, yesterday at the age of 81' years of Mr Ewen Cameron, a well-known and very highly respected citizen of Dunedin. He was educated at the old Stone School, under Mr Stewart, while Sir Robert Stout was also a teacher there, and at the Otago Boys’ High School. On leaving school Mr 1 Cameron secured a position with Mr A. .J. Burns, the founder in 1873 of the business now known as the Mosgiel 'Woollen Company, "and" by his energy an(i application he became m 1906 the manager, a position which he held for many years; He retired in 1927, after continuous service with the company for 54 years. , Keenly interested in church work, Mr Cameron was an elder of First. Church for over 50 years, and during that- time he occupied the position of superintendent of the Russell Street Sunday - School for many years,' and was leader of the young men’s Bible class for a number of years. He had been a member and president of the Otago Employers’. Association, . a member of the Arthur Street School Committee, a member of the Otago Bowling Club, and a member of the Rotary Club. He is survived by his widow and three sons, who are all married and in business—-Mr George Cameron in Levin, Mr Alexander Cameron in Petone, and Mr Douglas Cameron in Christchurch. . Mil JOHN FARRELL An Auckland Press Association telegram records the- death of Mr John Farrell, at his home at Devonport.. He was for 17 years architect to the Auckland Education Board, and wasa former mayor of Grey Lynn. He twice unsuccessfully contested seats for election to Parliament, once against the late Sir George Fowlds (Grey Lynn) and once against the Right Hon. JVI. JSavage (Auckland West).
