WELLINGTON MEETING TRACK WORK AT TREHTHAH [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 19. A heavy mist was down at Tronthain this morning, and timing was difficult. Not a great deal of fast galloping was accomplished, however, and most of the horses were allotted serviceable work only. All the gallops wore on the course proper. Counterblast was timed to cover halt a mile in 48seo, and she evidently is well forward. , „ Dictate, Laughing Lass, and Gay bon also covered the same distance in 48sec, ail shaping satisfactorily. Quadroon and Florence traversed hall a mile in a shade better than 49soc. Coliiicamp pleased in returning 48 3-ssec in a similar task, coming home in great style. Majority was going comfortably alongside Te Morehu over half a mile in 51sec, and The Bigot was doing better than The Buzzer at the end of six furlongs in Imin IDsec, the last hali-nnle taking 53sec. . The Bigot looks exceptionally well. Rarotonga was a neck in front of Vadanoe at the conclusion of five furlongs in Imin 3 3-ssec. Rabble was half a length clear of Argentic after traversing seven furlongs m Imin 30sec, tlic lust lialf-iuil© in 2.s S ec. Screamer took Imin 30 l-sseo and Sly Fox Imin 31 2-ssec for a similar task. Several two-year-olds came down the straight, but timing at this point is impossible at Trentham, even with no mist. Among those who indulged in such work were Areas and Serenata Barau, Submission and Portal, Daniel Defoe, Nora Gregor, Pas de Val and Vasco ties, Master Hotspur and Winning Rival. The southern pair look very fit, Master Hotspur showing all the quality expected of a colt of such repute. Padishah greatly impressed with his condition, and never looked better in his career. Among the horses unlikely to start tomorrow are Ivar, Military Maid, Chevychase, Matoru, Beau Repaire, Race Call, Grey Honour, Twenty Grand. Beau Repaire did not make the trip. Iddo jumped two fences safely, this being the only schooling. HOCKEY WORLD TOURNAMENT IN 1890 Press Association-By Telegraph—Copyright AMSTERDAM, October 18. (Received October 19, at 11 a.m.) The International Hockey Federation, to which New Zealand, Australia, and Italy were admitted, decided to organise a world hockey tournament in 1940, probably in Holland, if hockey is not included in the Olympic Games.
