GAELIC SOCIETY
MONTHLY MEETING There was a diversified programme presented at tho monthly meeting last night of the Gaelic Society of New Zealand. Tho chairman was Chief A. MacLennan, and associated with him were Chieftains T. Stuart, ,W. H. Al'Leod, A. Alatheson, and A. M‘Kenzie. The Chief welcomed members, and referred to the deaths of Air Donald AlacArthur and Air Walter Lake, and he called upon Piper Waldie to play a lament as a last tribute to their memory. The following programme was presented;—Gaelic songs, 1 An Gille Ban,' ‘ A Chuthag,’ Gaelic choir; dance, seann triubhais, Misses Lola Bobertson and Muriel Pledger; Gaelic song, ‘ Eilean an Fraoich, r 1 Mairi Bhean Og,’ Mrs A. Maclvor songs, ‘ Scots Wha Hae Wi Wallace Bled.’ ‘ Shipmates o’ Mine,’ Mr Rankin Harper; dance, swords, Aliss Waveny Alusson; pipe selection, march, reel, and strathspey, Piper George Yardley: Gaelic songs, ‘ A Ehleasgaich,’ ‘ An Fhreilb Chraobhaich Chais,’ choir; songs, ‘ Caller On,’ 1 The A aid Scotch Songs,’ Airs Searle; dance, Irish jig, AHss Lola Robertson: Gaelic smigs, ‘ Eilean Mo Cridh." ‘ S’Cheill ud Theidh,’ Airs A. MaeLeiman; dance, sailor’s hornpipe. Miss Waveny Alusson; songs. ‘ Off to Phila-J delphia,’ ‘ Wanderer’s Song,’ Mr Stau-
ley Bragg; Gaelic songs, ‘An t’Alltan Dubh,’ • Nigheau Bonn,’ Chief A. AlacLeuuan; pipe selection, ‘ Waes Ale for Prince Charlie,’ Piper George Yardley; songs, 1 Misty islands of the Highlands,’ ‘ Believe Ale if All Those Endearing Young Charms,’ Airs A. Aiatheson. Al’iss George played the accompaniments and Miss Daphne Allan provided the dancing party.
