L.G.'S DOUBLES

One of Mr Lloyd George’s many, “doubles” has died, writes the London diarist of the ‘ Evening Standard.’ Ho was the Rev. J. T. Rhys, who, during the latter part of Mr Lloyd. George’s Premiership acted as private secretary'to Dame Margaret at No. 10 Downing Street. Mr Rhys was not one of the best “ doubles,” but he was frequently mistaken for the then Prime Minister. The most striking “ double ” until you get quiet close to him is a South Wales tailor. At the Eisteddfod last year he came out of a chapel where a crowd was awaiting Mr Lloyd George.Even the Welshmen were deceived, for the tailor got the cheers, which ended suddenly when he walked off alone instead of entering Mr Lloyd George’s car. Not only his hair but his walk was Lloyd-Georgian, leaning slightly to one side and coming down heavier on one foot than on the other.
