TONNAGES NOT DECLINING POSITION UNRELIEVED BEFORE THURSDAY 35,791 TONS HERE TO-MORROW ____ s Despite the departure of two coastal vessels last night and the Liverpool steamer Opawa for Oamaru this morning, shipping tonnages in the port show no signs of declining appreciably. Seven vessels, of a total tonnage of 35,552, were berthed at midday to-day, including three that arrived this morning. These were the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Rangitane (16,712 tons), from Auckland to discharge. London cargo; the Union Steam Ship Cornpay’s Waitaki (2,212 tons), from Melbourne; and the coastal freighter Waimarino (3.067 tons), from Bluff to load Auckland cargo for the latter company. Three vessels, comprising 8,489 tons, should have departed by midnight—the Karetu with Australian cargo, and the Waimarino to continue loading for Timaru and the Waitaki to continue discharge at Lyttelton. This will bring the tonnages down to 27,063, but to-morrow a further three ships are expected—tho Trelawny (4,689 tons), bringing New York cargo to the New Zealand. Shipping Company agency; the Holm Line’s Holmdale (676 tons), from Wellington; and the Union Company’s Waiana (3,363 tons), from Auckland via ports—which will swell the total again to 35,791 tons. However, by Thursday at midnight there should be only two vessels still in port—the Malaren (2,699 tons), at present discharging guano from Seychelles Island, and the Rangitane—a moderate 19,411 tons. There will be the Holmdale, Olivebank, and Waiana, comprising 9,193 tons, sailing to-mor-row; the Kakapo and Trelawny on Thursday (7,187 tons); while the Port Whangarei will be here and away the same day. The Canterbury Steam ship Company’s Breeze (620 tons) will arrive on Friday and will sail the same day, and the Cambridge (10.846 tons) will berth to discharge Liverpool cargo. "
