ST. ANDREW SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING Tho monthly social of the St. Andrew Society of Otago took the form of a ladies’ night, and was hold in Wilson Hall, King street, on Saturday evening. Mrs M'lnnes acted as hostess. Mrs R. H. Dagger, with members of the executive, also Mr W. I’. Smith (president of the Scottish Society), were piped in by Mrs Jopson, who played selections oh the pipes later in the evening. . In her opening remarks Mrs Dagger extended a welcome to those present, especially mentioning Mrs Marshall (a visitor from the St. Andrew Society or Invercargill). Miss .Jardine (a member recently returned from abroad), and Mr W. P. Smith (guest of the evening). Songs were given by Mrs A\ ilkinson. Miss Margaret Pratt, and a choir of lady members; and a playette, ‘The Memory Powder,’ produced by Miss E. Laing, was much enjoyed. The cast was: Mrs Adams (Miss M. Somerville). Mr Adams (C. Gray), the maid (Mrs M'lnnes), the cook (Mrs R. Dagger), the policeman (Mr T. M’lnnes). During the evening Mr W. P. Smith spoke on behalf of the Scottish Society, conveying good wishes for the future success of the St. Andrew Society. A programme of old-time Scottish dances, headed by the St. Andrew’s Cross grand march, was carried out, Mrs M'Curdy acting as M.C.
