SEA ELEPHANT AT ST. CLAIR

15-FOOTER'S BRIEF STAY Bearing the marks of battle, a fine specimen of sea elephant made a sudden ’appearance on the St. Clair 15eao.i, fronting the Esplanade, on Saturday afternoon. It was a veritable monster, its length being reliably estimated at 16ft by the select gallery that saw it come ashore. This is the first occasion that one of these mammals has made its appearance along this part of the coast for many years, and its visit was only a brief one, as the crowd must have decided it to make off. The tail of the sea elephant was badly cut, and gave the impression that it bad been participating in a deep-sea fight. Ihe girth of this unusual visitor resembled that of a cow, according to one spectator.
