A JOAN OF ARC PAGEANT
Thousands flock every year in July to Nancy to see a Joan of Arc pageantblay written by an Englishman, Louis N. Parker, well known in England for hi* pageants and biographical dramas bf ‘Drake,’ ‘Disraeli,’ and ‘The Cardinal.’
In his ‘ Joan of Arc ’ played at Nancy, the author depicts the life of the heroine of France from the visions at Domremy to the meeting with the Dauphin at Chinon, his crowning as Chanes VII. in the cathedral of Rheims, to the last tragic scene on the market place at Rouen. The impersonator of Joan of Arc is Sameless, and although everyone in ancy knows who she is, her wish is respected and her name never mentioned or printed. She plays the ipart •with all the reverence of an inspired actor in a Passion Play. This year’s performance of ‘Le Lys ide France,’ as the Joan of Arc play is called in French, will take place at Nancy on July 14, September 4. 11, tad id. {six hundred performers take jwfcu>— ;
