DON'T “BURN" THE LAWN

When applying any chemical topdressing to a lawn every precaution should be taken to ensure a smooth and even distribution. If the dressing is thrown on haphazard the chances are that some portions will get' a very heavy share, sufficient, indeed, to “ burn ” off the grass entirely. This will result in patches bare of grass but infested with weeds, whose appetites are not so delicate.

The safest method of applying topdressing is to use only the exact amount prescribed and to thoroughly mix this with about 10 times its bulk of fine sand. After spreading the mixture may be further distributed by a stiff broom.— ‘ Taranaki Herald.’
