Investment Market To-day

STEADY TREND NARROW PRICE MOVEMENTS MOST SECTIONS UNCHANGED Narrow price movements resulted from a quiet call-over this morning, although the sales list was comparatively good. Cautious limits prevailed for transtasman issues, while other sections showed little change. Good support was accorded Government loans by buyers, but values remained practically unchanged, the ’43-46 issues being sought at par. Banks were quiet, although the maintenance of a firm undertone was evidenced by the fact that business in New Zeahmds was done at vendors’ valuation. Coal scrip remained practically unchanged, but oil shares were easy dn a lethargic market. Transtasman industrials were uncertain, although a brighter tendency was just barely discernible. Broken Hills closed with buyers monopolising the market. Coles made slight way, while Sydney Woolworths were priced at £1 Is. Cox Bros, had a reported transaction at 18s, cum new issue, unsupplied buyers fixing 17s as final limits. ' Australian mining shares generally held late rates, but Lyells slipped to another sale at £1 7s 9d, the market closing 3d on either side. Norths were sought at £2 4s, but vendors displayed no interest. SALES REPORTED. —Late Yesterday.— 4 per cent! Stock, 1946-49, £lOl 15s. —This Morning.— Bank of New Zealand, £2 3§ 3d.
