TOWN HALL DANCE

NAVY NIGHT On Saturday night the dance will be held in the Concert Chamber. The management has arranged for the 1938 ' foxtrot championship of H.M.S. Leauder to take place. The championship will be open only to members of the crew of the shin and any lady they select from the hall as their partner. Two silver cups will be awarded to the winning couple, one for the la'dy and one for the gentleman. The competition will be judged by Mr Bob Brown and Miss Wallace, of the Wallace School of Dancing. The music will he supplied by Mr Alexander Swann’s Band of seven players. The vocalist, Mr James MacFarlane. will feature a programme of popular Navy numbers, including ‘ The Fleet’s in Port Again ’ and ‘We Saw the Sea.’ Novelty paper hats, streamers, balloons, and masks will be distributed. Patrons are reminded of the big Ranfurly Shield and H.M.S. Leander farewell dance to bo held in the Concert Chamber next Wednesday, August 24.
