SOYA BEAN AS MOTOR FUEL
Research into the possibilities of the use of the soya bean, for the production of vegetable oil suitable for motor fuel for Diesel engines has been in progress for some time past by Messrs Lever Bros., England. _ ■ Oil from about 20 different trees, and plants was tested as well as oils de- v rived from several animal taUows and fats. _ At present the soya bean is the chief export of Manohnkuo, some • 2,000,000tons having been exported annually between 1930-35 from about 10,000.000 acres under cultivation. The bean grows successfully in England, and could bo grown mr'a targe scale in many parts of the British Empire, such as Canada, Australia.
