BOMBERS ATTACK REBEL CRUISERS BARCELONA, August 1. (Received August 2, at 8 a.m.) Republican bombers attacked the cruisers Canarias and Ccrvera off Cartagena. They claim that they damaged the former. LOYALISTS LAUNCH NEW OFFENSIVE SEVERAL IMPORTANT VILLAGES CAPTURED. VALENCIA, August 1. (Received August 2, at 12.45 p.m.) The Government forces claim that they launched a new offensive west of Teruel and captured several important villages in the Sierra Dealburracin region. A Saragossa message states that the rebels claim that they are steadily forcing back to the Ebro River 35,000 loyalists who crossed it last week, in ci’easing their difficulties by opening dams to raise the level of the stream.
