FRIDAY'S COMMUNITY SING

The weekly sing will be held in the Strand Theatre (by courtesy of FullerHayward) at 12.15. This week’s attraction will be the appearance of the members of St. Iviida Ladies’ Bowling Club, who will render several popular numbers with words suitable to bowling Mr H. P. Desmoulins will be leader, and Mr Alf Pettitt will be at the piano. A good programme of old and new popular numbers is being arranged. On Friday, August 12, the big day will be held for the Plunket Society, when the whole of the proceeds will be handed to that body. The committee hopes to make this appeal a record one. Mrs M‘lntyre, who is in charge of the stall, will be pleased to receive goods and flowers. Cheenos to be sent to the secretary, Mr J. F. Himburg, by Thursday. The proceeds are for the Mayor’s Relief of Distress Fund.
